Kirkus Reviews takes on The Alchemists, noting “unexpected wit and an eye for drama” and calling it “the most complete and authoritative account to date of the response of the central bankers to the global financial crisis.”

The review also concludes that “Enlightening chapters about the winding history of central banking and the People’s Bank of China have less to do with the main narrative but add depth to the book as a whole, making it an indispensable resource for anyone seeking to understand the role played by the guardians of the economy.”
